Saturday Night Hootenanny

The Brass Screw Consortium is over the moon to welcome Blue Moon Marquee as our headline band at this year’s Hootenanny.

Carving a path through blues, jazz, jump jive, folk, country, swing, and Indigenous soul with an authentic spirit, the sound of Blue Moon Marquee does not idle easily in one certain category. It stomps and struts through the wilds, conjuring a blend where Howlin’ Wolf tangos with Django, Earnest Tubb shoots firecrackers with Cab Calloway, and Memphis Minnie throws dice with Screamin’ Jay Hawkins.

They received the 2023 Maple Blues Awards (Canada’s highest honour in Blues) with four wins including, Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Acoustic Act of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. In 2024 the accolades continued with a win for Blues Artist of the Year at the prestigious West Coast Music Awards.

We’re excited beyond words to welcome back our opening band, Seattle’s Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers,” for our Brass Screw Consortium Hootenanny.

This Gypsy Jazz band evoke the spirit of a Paris café and the raucous energy of a Romani campsite with their take on Hot Club Swing. Their repertoire includes swing standards, traditional European melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and Ranger’s original compositions.
