The Brass Screw Confederacy comingles a Victorian seaport with edgy 21st century art, music, and tech strapped together with brass and steeped in a Pacific Northwest sensibility all its own.
The Brass Screw ain't no con. Once a year we take over town and transform it with our own unique vision of what a Steampunk Extravaganza should be: Tactical Croquet, our own collectible card game Airship Apprentice, Nebula award winning Phil & Kaja Foglio's Girl Genius, Rise of Aester's annual assembly, the stupendous Bazaar of the Bizarre, Brass Screw Chautauqua, bands, magic, and mayhem - all culminating Saturday night with a Steampunk Hootenanny.
Step into Port Townsend, the City of Dreams, and immerse yourself in a frontier town that lives steampunk year-round. Throughout the 19th century the "Key City" was a town looking to the future. Electirified homes and railway, a sense of destiny, aspirations to grandeur. Then it all fell down - the city time forgot. But today you can could visit one of 3 Victorian seaports in the US, a community dedicated to authentic oddity, eccentric art, and an ecclectic vision that draws hundreds of thousands of guests every year.
So while we aren't the biggest, fanciest, first, and we certainly hope we aren't the last steampunk something-or-other on earth we've got something to steam up ingenues and aficionados alike.
